Looking at our blends and finding it challenging to decide where to start? Maybe we can help guide you in the right direction!
First and foremost: before drinking herbal pregnancy teas, you should consult with your midwife. They are familiar with your pregnancy and with pregnancy teas and can advise you if there are any herbs you should avoid. That said, all of our herbs are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for consumption from the second trimester, onward.
Our goal is to support women through all stages of pregnancy, from trying-to-conceive through postpartum. With that in mind, we offer the following blends:
Trying to Conceive (TTC)
Fertilitea was specially blended to help promote a woman’s health as she prepares her body for conception. As stated on the product page “we understand the sensitivity around fertility struggles and so we do not make any empty promises or guarantees: drinking this tea will not make you pregnant, nor will it guarantee your success in conceiving.” Fertilitea is best consumed from day 1 of your cycle (first day of menstruation) until ovulation, then resuming again on day 1.
First Trimester
Summer Mint Eve was blended to be safe during the first trimester. We included peppermint and fennel to help combat the nausea so prevalent in those first few weeks, and the nettle, oatstraw, and alfalfa provide an encyclopedia’s worth of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to support both mother and baby during those critical early weeks. Summer Mint Eve does not include red raspberry leaf as RRL is considered a uterine tonic and can cause contractions; as such, it is avoided during the first trimester.
Second and Third Trimester
NORA is our most basic pregnancy tea, using nettle leaf, oatstraw, red raspberry leaf, and alfalfa to provide a multi-vitamin, nutritional support during pregnancy. NORA forms the basis for most of our teas. It is light and refreshing, with a slightly "grassy" taste that some love while others find… less enjoyable 😉
Lady Nora is our take on classic Earl Grey tea (a personal favorite), and is made with NORA infused with Bergamot essential oil. Bergamot oil is a good stress-reliever, and gives the NORA tea a lovely citrus flavor. We also offer Lady Nora in a caffeinated version which is made with NORA, black tea, and Bergamot oil.
SuperNORA is our powerhouse tea, made with NORA and also including fennel, rosehips, and Bergamot Mint essential oil. Fennel has numerous uses, but its primary function in SuperNORA is to help ease digestion and reduce nausea. Fennel is also used to help increase milk supply postpartum. Rosehips are an excellent source of vitamins A and C as well as antioxidants, and can help reduce inflammation. Bergamot mint can help reduce tension and headaches, as well as aiding with digestion, and gives the tea it’s distinctive and delightful citrus-mint flavor.
Maternitea was blended upon special request from a midwifery group and has a comforting lemon-ginger-mint flavor. Ginger root and lemon balm are included for their anti-inflammatory and stomach-settling properties. Lemon balm and spearmint are both known for their mild calming effects and are often prescribed to combat anxiety.
Postpartum
As stated above, the fennel in SuperNORA helps support milk supply postpartum and we strongly encourage women to continue drinking it.
Hazel Morning Maté is our postpartum recovery/I-can-finally-have-caffeine-again blend. It is also the only blend specifically with both moms and dads in mind! The weeks and months postpartum are exhausting; she’s recovering from running 15 triathlons in, like, less than 24 hours; he’s doing his best to help support her and baby and manage work expectations; nobody is sleeping…. It’s a lot. Coffee is virtually ubiquitous, but the acid and chemical processing can create plenty of other issues. Enter: Hazel Morning Maté, a natural chocolate and hazelnut blend with as much caffeine as a cup of coffee but loaded with vitamins and minerals—particularly B vitamins to provide a long-lasting energy boost to help you get through the day.
