As mentioned in the product description for Lady Nora, my love for Earl Grey tea is nerdy in origins – yep, I love it because Captain Jean Luc Picard loved it! Ironically, as an adult, I rewatched Star Trek: The Next Generation only to find that Captain Picard only orders “Tea, Earl Grey, hot” a few times! Nonetheless, since my childhood hero loved it, I decided to try it. I confess; it took a while to become accustomed to the flavor, but it is now one of my favorite teas.
In my blog post about SuperNORA, I mentioned that it was my intention to use Bergamot (pronounced: ber-gah-maht, not ber-gah-moh, as I mistakenly believed for years) as the main flavor of that blend, but inadvertently ordered the wrong essential oil. After completing the SuperNORA blend with Bergamot Mint, I decided to try a new blend with the correct Bergamot oil. In honor of its origins, I named it Lady Nora.
Lady Nora is our go-to calming blend. One of the biggest benefits of Bergamot is its antidepressant and mood-lifting qualities, with studies showing that Bergamot oil can help increase a sense of calm and relaxation. A 2022 randomized, controlled trial (published here) concluded that bergamot essential oil aromatherapy resulted in a “positive effect… on depressive mood in postpartum women.” Other studies show that bergamot can help with blood pressure reduction, can help alleviate pain and tension in the body, and may even help reduce cholesterol levels. And with the same, great nutritional value of our standard NORA blend, Lady Nora is a perfect cuppa to sit back and sip while reading Shakespeare and listening to classical music after a hard day battling Romulan battlecruisers… er… I mean, Braxton Hicks contractions!
Our Lady Nora blend is available in both caffeinated and caffeine-free varieties. Caffeinated Lady Nora contains black tea and so has about as much caffeine as a normal cup of tea.
